I’ve been a bit quiet on this blog, but I have been working hard! In addition to Pengis, I’ve been working on a new series of pets - the creatures of Glitter Grove!
Glitter Grove creatures are an inbetween of the budget pets, and Pengis. Pengis are a premium pet and I do my best to try and make sure they are valuable for breeders, and sometimes this comes at the expense of things I think might be fun.
The Glitter Grove creatures, while of course you can sell them, and there is even a web market at launch, the priority will be on trying to make them fun and affordable.
So, what are they exactly?
They are three different sets of breedables: Spiders, Fairies and Shroomies. Each pet is seperate and can not be bread together. Fairies are all female, and magic fairy gems (new fairies) into existance, Shroomies wander around and are polite and search for interesting things which they love to tell you about, and Spiders are, well, spiders.
There are three new point systems, fairy dust for fairies, compost points for shroomies, and science points for spiders. Points will be used much like aurora points are used for pengis.
These pets do not need enclosures and do not do tasks. They are more traditional breedables, they are animesh (or static) and move around (or not), they eat food: Fairy flowers, candy bowls, and lamb chops. Food will only be available in bulk size (or multiples of bulk bowls) and will be priced at L$75 (half the price of Pengi Bulk food).
Traits will work on a pure breeding system, you want a new fairy dress, you must breed at least 3 generations of the same dress for a chance at a new one. There are no hidden traits that can resurface several generations down the line.
There is a harvesting system, and virtual inventory system that is shared across all three pets, at present there is Foresting, Gardening and Mining. Each of these requires a tool, which you can get a novice version for free. There are also expert tools, but they are harder to get and limited to 100 uses (but also free).
Each harvest you do gives you a chance at getting nothing, a virtual item or an inworld item. Inworld items vary, and at present there are mostly items that grant star points (for the old budget pets & Xundra’s garden), oh and there is a chance at a cave turtle. Virtual items are ingredients which are used for crafting blueprints.
What are blueprints? They are recipies used to create things of course - it could be a new expert tool, it could be a Special Edition, or anything really.
Harvesting is already set up in the glitter grove area, however I have not yet decided if I will reset virtual inventories before the pet launches, so if you want to play with it you’re welcome to - but I wouldn’t spend too much time on it at this stage (also without having access to the web portals you wont be able to see what virtual inventory you have).
When will all this launch? I am hoping within the next couple of months, all the scripting is done, some of the websites still need to be written (most notably the TOS & Privacy Policies but also the point vendor stuff) and also I’m trying to use this oppurtunity to figure out what is going on with Pengis not repairing for some people.
We are doing closed beta testing now and ironing out the little things.
